~  Theatre Performances ~

Dress Rehearsals at Riggs Theatre are 5:30-8:00 pm
Be at the theater by 5pm. Find your dressing room and get organized.
Be on stage in your class clothes - leotard, tights, shoes, and secure ballet bun - by 5:30 for notes and warm-up. Costumes will be put on after warm-up.

And REMEMBER treat dress rehearsal as a performance. Wear the correct costumes, tights, undergarments, shoes, hair, etc. This is where you make sure everything works, looks good, and you can sort out any mid-performance costume issues. Keep costumes off the floor!! Read PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES.

Performances at  Riggs Theatre at 2 p.m. afternoon matinee & 7 p.m. evening performance
Dancers: Be at the theater at noon for the first performance. Be back at the theater at 5:00 for the second performance.

Be at the theater at 12:00 pm to get organized in dressing rooms, do hair, makeup, etc.
Be on stage by 12:30 pm for notes and warm-up and any extra practice that you may need
Costumes on at 1:30 pm. Curtain at 2:00 pm.

Break 3:30-5:00 pm

Be back at the theater at 5:00. Make sure everything you need is reorganized and in its place. Keep the dressing rooms picked up. If you haven't done so this would be a good time to put recital gifts for classmates out on the tables.
   Makeup/hair redo or touch-ups at 5:00 pm.
Be on stage in class clothes at 5:30 pm for notes and warm-up.
Costumes on at 6:30 pm. Curtain at 7:00 pm.

After: Check the gift tables out front,  pick up all your costumes/accessories/shoes,  pick up after yourself. Return borrowed items. Pack up! See you at Perkins!

Studio Policy on Attendance
Let your teacher know in advance if you will miss a class, practice, or run-through. Examples of missing classes include mandatory school activities for a grade or medical issues like chickenpox. If we close for extreme weather we will post on our various outlets and notify. This is South Dakota. We still have class when it snows.
Students must attend 80% of their classes to be in performances
except in extreme cases due to injuries and long illnesses. (This works out to missing no more than 6 classes during the September through May year.) As it is incredibly important that students have at least one ballet class a week, students are invited to make up classes they have missed by taking an upper or lower-level ballet class. Hosanna Dance reserves the right to schedule extra rehearsals for performances with proper notice given and at no extra charge to parents. Upper-level students receive extra tutoring and private instruction through these rehearsals at no cost to parents.

Please do not overschedule yourself. You need to make it to your classes and be there on time for the whole year. To be on time you must make it to the studio before your class starts.

Student Examinations

If you or your student are interested in getting started with Cecchetti student examinations let us know.

Ballet III and up are eligible to start working on Grade 1. Examinations take a lot of preparation, study, and commitment.
(Normally 1-2 years is spent studying per grade. More as you progress through the grades.)

Our studio is affiliated with the Cecchetti Council of America. All teachers hold certificates in the Cecchetti Method.
