Do not start hammering, ripping, or wetting your shoes. This will ruin your very expensive shoes.

Dance & Health It is important to find a good performance therapist or rehabilitation specialist, one who understands dancers- their bodies, their needs, and their mindset. Find someone who knows that dance is not the problem, but that a lack of education is. Allow that practitioner to educate you on how to keep your body performing pain-free. You have the right to more than just a passive therapy, adjustment, or massage, but to be taught how to integrate this correction into your movement.

-Dance Medicine
South Dakota's ONLY dance medicine specialist -- Ruth Scott
Great Plains Physical Therapy - the Beresford, SD location works with dancers from all over. They can do assessments, create exercise programs, do a wellness check, work with you on injuries, pointe readiness.
Ruth Scott has had additional training above and beyond in order to specialize in dance medicine and has many, many years experience working with dancers. She is also the mother of a professional dancer.
